The first meeting between the Ukrainian Cyber Police Department and Crystal Blockchain, was a discussion of ambitious goals as well as exchanges of experience in cybercrime mitigation.
On May 14, 2021, a meeting of the Ukrainian Cyber Police Department and Crystal Blockchain analytics team took place where the teams discussed the great potential for collaboration in the field of analysis and investigation of offenses and illicit activities related to cryptocurrencies.
In times of rapid technological changes and breakthroughs, globalization, and the prominent role of technology in society, alternative means of payment – cryptocurrencies as one of its forms – is increasing. Criminals do not miss these opportunities, as they continue to look for tools with which they can perform anonymous transactions, and mechanisms that make the process of their identification more complicated to achieve.
The cyber police understand that the modern achievements of cryptography, the simplicity and the approximation of cryptocurrency technologies to citizens – as well as the creation of more convenient and clear mechanisms for working with cryptocurrencies – attracts citizens to invest in various cryptocurrency projects. Unfortunately, some of these projects follow the old scheme of attracting people to gain access to their money, instead of pursuing more positive intentions.
Considering these allegations, there is an urgent need to teach cyberpolice new methods and practices for identifying crypto scammers. One of the tools that provides the ability to analyze and track cryptocurrency movement is the Crystal platform used by the crypto community.
Representatives of Crystal Blockchain conducted a training session with the cyber police and demonstrated some successful cases of working with the program. This acquired knowledge is to be practiced and deepened, and we hope for further expansion and ongoing cooperation.
